XRAY is proud to announce that another Reader's Choice Award has been added to the extensive and impressive line up of trophies and awards gained. The readers of US-favourite RC Car Action magazine have voted the XRAY NT1 as their favourite touring car. This trophy is especially valuable and endearing since it is customers themselves that voted and awarded the NT1 as their most favourite touring car.

This bold statement by the public gives XRAY even more drive and reason to further its product development... to ensure the highest performance and quality experience as well as the very best customer service and support. All at XRAY thank you for your vote and the confidence you've shown in us.

Interview with XRAY's Head engineer: NT1 Car of the Year With the XRAY NT1 being voted the Car of the Year by RC Car Action, XRAY's Head Engineer Gabriel Meszaros shares his thoughts about the award and about tomorrow's challenges.

1. How do you feel about winning such a prestigious award, voted by the customers themselves?

"It is a great feeling and even greater satisfaction for the entire R&D team at XRAY. As XRAYs Head Engineer, my responsibility is to take all the ideas, feedback and improvement ideas that Juraj & Martin give to me and make them into products. The entire XRAY R&D team has worked very hard on the NT1 project over the past few years, and we've had great achievements on the tracks, great reviews in magazines, and even more important and valuable have had great appraisals by customers. I realize that most people do not know about the thousands of hours spent on engineering, developing, and testing and working on this car, so the greatest award for the people behind the product is in the satisfaction of our customers. There is no greater satisfaction then receiving an award from the people you are designing products for, and having those people say this is our favorite car. Thank you very much for your votes!"

2. What are the biggest challenges these days to engineer the world's best touring car?

"My biggest personal challenge is to keep up with Juraj & Martin! We all have been working with our other engineers as an integrated team, but the amount of ideas and visions that come from both Juraj & Martin is simply amazing. Another part of our challenge is to sort out the feedback from the team drivers and customers to evaluate which comments and suggestions are more worthy of consideration than others, and to engineer them into future products or design updates for current products. During design and engineering, our goal and philosophy is to make such design solutions which improve the performance, handling, or reliability of the product and have the designs work for the majority of our customers in different environments and conditions."

3. What features do you feel set apart the NT1 from other cars in the class, and what do you see as the next stage of development for the nitro touring car class?

"Development-wise, nitro touring cars are at a high maturity level which is obvious to most people since most cars look similar these days. Knowing that a model racing car consists of hundreds of parts which must work together in perfect harmony, the perfection of every single part plays an important role. Take into account that you need to synchronize tolerances and functionality of completely different parts and components or assemblies some made of steel, other of aluminum parts, and still others of molded composite or machined graphite. All of these have different tolerances and construction characteristics, and you need to get all the small details of hundreds parts right to make the overall product perform better than the competition. This is where all the precision engineering and innovation comes into play. Sure you can have plenty of replica knock-offs, but only a few companies know how to engineer and design cars with the details in mind. So where the differences lies in the small details, this is where XRAY shines brighter than the rest and what sets the NT1 apart from others. And ultimately this is why customers are so happy and satisfied with the NT1 both on and off the track. Where do I see the next development? If some rules remain constant, then I do not much foresee radical development in geometry or concepts as such. Rather I see (and know as fact) that there are still many things to improve when it comes to material use, improved tolerances and further refinement of small details."
